Wave Hello To This Ocean-Inspired Wallpaper From Laine + Alliage

Picture an antique amphora lost at sea, gently rocking in the currents: That’s the image Tania Leipold, founder of the Brooklyn-based atelier Laine + Alliage, tried to capture with Vessels. The eco-friendly, clay-coated wallpaper tells a story of “unhurried time, ease, and tranquility,” she says, evoking a dance between water and object. Slightly transparent, the handpainted pattern shows blurred, overlapping vases in two soft colorways: sea-green Acqua and Nectar, a sandy orange. The 27-inch-wide panels come in heights of 9 or 12 feet and are printed to order with water-based inks (allow a four- to six-week lead time). With a matte surface to minimize glare, Vessels is suitable for residential and low-traffic commercial locations and is available on contract grounds upon request.

Glimpse This Fashion Designer’s Collection for Farrow & Ball

Christopher John Rogers is known for expressive clothing alive with color, pattern, and joy. But the celebrated Brooklyn-based, Louisiana-born fashion designer’s latest endeavor marks a sea change: Carte Blanche, a capsule collection of paints and wallpapers for U.K.’s Farrow & Ball, is for the home. In the latter category is a wide statement Stripe that can be hung in four different orientations, a Bauhaus-inspired mixed-scale Check that pays homage to Anni Albers, and the graduated and textured Dot, a riff on the flatbed printing method and one of Rogers’s best-known motifs. A dozen paint shades round out the collection, from deep black Liquorice to Hog Plum, a greenish yellow reminiscent of the sweet and sour fruit found across the southern U.S.

Surf Pro Kassia Meador Collaborates on Ethereal Wallpaper

Ethereal and fluid, wallpapers and textiles by Eskayel founder and creative director Shanan Campanaro begin as her own watercolors. Her company’s latest introduction, Aquarelle, a collaboration with pro surfer Kassia Meador (who Campanaro met while surfing herself), explores moments where water meets earth. “Kassia sent me beautiful photos of rivers, snow, mud, and cracked earth, and the paintings I made from them became the series,” she explains. The lustrous compositions are translated onto clay-coated wallpaper in three colorways: Ocean’s blues are layered to suggest a bird’s-eye view of dynamic estuaries; Ice blends white, lavender, and pale blue in cellular patterns akin to snow drifts; and Earth’s russet tones and biomorphic lines evoke parched terrain. Fabrics, pillows, and even wetsuits are also on offer.

Artist Elisa Passino Draws on the Art Deco Aesthetic in Her Latest Wallcovering for Astek

Combining graphic forms with soft pastels, the Astratta Miami collection was inspired by the Art Deco architecture of the titular city. Designed by Italian artist Elisa Passino for Astek, the Type II wallcovering includes touches of risograph-printed forms to add additional texture. Nine patterns—including Ocean Drive, Miami Springs, and Coconut Grove—are available in a few colorways each, including black-and-pink offerings and cobalt-and-bubblegum options. The line brings the distinctive architecture of an iconic beachside city to interior spaces, including commercial and hospitality projects. The digital print is made to order, the scale can be altered, and custom colors can be swapped in for the standard hues.

Calico Wallpaper Plays with Light and Patterns in Their Newest Endeavor, Glow

The New York–based wallpaper outfit founded by Rachel and Nick Cope, Calico Wallpaper, has long been inspired by global art practices, including traditional ones from Japan and Turkey. Their newest endeavor, Glow, is inspired by artists closer to home—including Light and Space legend (and California native) James Turrell. Squint and you can see vast fields of pale-colored bands gracing the wallpaper designs. Six colorways include the pink-tinted Flame and the gray-and-mauve Gleam, as well as Lumen, Float, Crosslight, and Bend. The product was created by experimenting with collage, mixing vellum and translucent Lucite, to create a distinctive and welcoming play of light and pattern.

This Wallcovering by Avery Thatcher Reflects Subtle Shifts in Light

Designer Avery Thatcher—founder of Juju Papers—launches a new brand name alongside the unveiling of Mother. Inspired by the shimmering kaleidoscopic film used in fishing lures, Thatcher developed a reflective wallcovering that shifts subtly under varied lighting situations and as different objects are placed in front of it. The name alludes to the properties of mother-of-pearl, glowing and distinctive yet organic and grounding. The wallcovering, made of an iridescent Mylar film with a nonwoven backing, is suitable for commercial and residential spaces. It is also Climate Neutral certified. Available in a single evanescent colorway, Mother is 54 inches wide.

Toni Garrn Foundation x Little Proba

Alex Proba

It’s not often that teen girls have an opportunity to design work seen on a global scale, but that’s exactly what Studio Proba’s education-based initiative, Little Proba, made possible in collaboration with the Toni Garrn Foundation—a group that works to close the gender gap in education in Africa. To create a collection of 27 vibrant Ghanian rugs, firm founder and multidisciplinary artist, Alex Proba, hosted a series of virtual workshops with local students centered around color theory, arming them with the tools to create art that reflects their unique stories. The students’ work then took on a new form as hand-woven rugs made of New Zealand wool and bamboo silk—a true collaboration.

For New York-based designer and artist Shadé Akanbi, traditional shapes and patterns take on a new life when mixed with modern sensibilities. For Akanbi’s collaboration with wallcovering brand Chasing Paper, each piece reflects the colors, landscapes, and patterns of her Nigerian-American upbringing. From Cleo Strip to Warri Palms, the wallpapers feature a color palette defined by nature with shades of cocoa, dried basil, berry, and the night sky.

To say the children’s book, “Sadako and the Thousand Paper Cranes” influenced Bradley Bowers is an understatement—more accurately, it planted the seed for what turned out to be a very fruitful career. His initial interest in origami grew with him, leading Bowers to study at the Savannah College of Art and Design where he explored the materiality of works he produced from paper and latex. “My career started when I began sculpting cotton paper by hand,” Bowers notes in a statement, “and for this collection of lighting pieces, it seemed it would be appropriate to revisit this material.” His sculptural light works recently were named Best Contemporary Work in Show at Design Miami/, blurring the line between form and function, while (we imagine) making his fourth-grade self proud.
